Service Fees & Charges
– How We Get Paid

Business Energy UK

At Business Energy UK, our remuneration is quite straightforward. We are paid by the business energy suppliers on our panel for connecting them with our clients for their gas, electricity, and associated services.

This commission is directly paid by the supplier. You, as the client, will never be asked to pay us this commission.

The commission we earn offsets the cost of our service, which includes sourcing competitive tariffs, price comparison, sales support, managing the switch, processing, customer service, and account management. We ensure that the commission earned aligns with our commitment to providing good customer outcomes and maintaining our market position for continued delivery of competitive deals for businesses.

Your agreement to utilise our service implies consent for Business Energy UK to receive this commission from the suppliers as described below:

The commission is incorporated into your energy usage unit cost via a slight uplift. This is included in the cost of the energy contract you finalise with your chosen supplier.

The uplift is determined by Business Energy UK. It varies across contracts, but it is typically a small percentage of the total energy contract cost and often less than 1.2 pence per unit rate.

Our commissions are based on estimated future consumption and hence are projected amounts. For instance, if we secure an electricity unit rate of 30 pence per KwH from a supplier, we may apply an uplift of 0.8 pence per KwH, resulting in a contracted price of 30.8 pence per KwH. Our commission is therefore the uplift multiplied by your total energy consumption over the contract term. In this example, it is around 2.5% of the total retail price.

The terms of payment and the period over which the commission is paid vary by supplier, so these commissions may also be revised over time by suppliers.

Some suppliers may opt to pay a fixed commission per contract for installing new meters.

For information on the remuneration, we expect from your contract, please email howwegetpaid@businessenergyuk.com.

Additional discretionary payments may be made by some suppliers for marketing and volume growth over a given period, but these payments do not affect the impartiality of the comparison service provided.
